They are in the family Viverridae, like civets and genets.
This animal's diet is mostly bananas, with an occasional rat or rabbit. I'm sure it eats other stuff too, but they can go thru 3 bunches of bananas a day!

Oh, I absolutely adore bearcats!!! It is quite something to have one use you as a climbing post! I love their smell and the funny catlike vocals that they have---I don't understand why they are listed as Class II to own one. Loved your photos, really great!

CITES is based on how endangered they are I'm surprised they are not more critical.
