| Wow Randy keep posting pics of that snakes. I'm due for a pair of those one of these days. So what's yours like I try to get as much info as possible from the guys that keep the forest cobras. They are awesome but have a killer reputation.

| I hope you have lots of experience and are exceedingly careful. Do you have access to AV? That is the kind of animal that if you make a mistake you will be the next high profile incident that the folks from the Animal Protection Institue (API) & H$U$ would just love to use to ban exotics... not to mention it could put you in the grave. Animals like that are spectacular but they are no joke... they require the utmost in seriousness and professionalism to successfully handle them over the long term. How long have you worked with Elapids? How long have you owned that beautiful Forest Cobra?

Didnt you sell that snake to Jessi because you were afraid of it? I thought Jessi still had the snake? Are you saying you have it back now?
I thought Justin was supposed to get the snake back if you decided you couldnt handle it? Wasnt that the deal?

| Forests are the perfect cross between a cobra and a mamba. Extremely attentive, alert, and aware of their surroundings. Always twitchin their head like a mamba. They also have the tallest hoods of any cobra (in comparison to its length). I've played with a friend's that were only 4ft long, but a really awesome cobra that always requires 100% attention, cause it will test ya.

If you ask if someone has AV, you don't even know how to acquire AV, nor the requirements for keeping AV.
So you know for the future, if you ever get to reading this post.
I'll be nice and help you out here. The only way to acquire AV is via a doctor, because AV is a controlled substance and is only acquirable by prescription. Good luck finding a doctor comfortable with prescribing someone AV 
AV has an extremely short lifespan of 6 months to a year at most, FROZEN! (it is most likely functional older than a year, much like all other medications, but that is what the FDA has allowed to their range of liability). So in order to have reliable AV on hand at all times, you will need to replenish your AV every 6 months. This leads to the next big issue.
AV IS EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE! No insurance company will pay for AV! Except if you get bit by a native venomous in a region where they are found naturally, and only in the USA hehe. If you get bit by your own venomous reptile, it is 100% YOUR FINANCIAL LIABILITY!
So in summary, the keeping of venomous snakes is done by an elite group of professionals. If you get envenomated, you screwed up, and are definitely not as good as you thought you were. The first time you are envenomated, is proof that you are not good enough to work with that animal, and need to rethink your procedures. Assuming you have survived hehe. If you keep venomous and are still alive, you are good. If you die from a hot, you have overestimated your abilities. I'll quote Al Coritz by saying this is a very unforgiving hobby. av only has a shelf live of 6 months can you show where you found that im sure not all have the same amount of shelf live but i have heard 3 years for most av. never hear of only only lasting 6 months.. if a person gets bit by a hot they are not ready to keep it ? everyone makes mistakes that doesnt me they are not quailfied to keep that animal. i have a friend that started keeping puff adders as his first hot at the age of 14 and he have his first bite for 28 years, and he has around 200 adult venomous snake breeders so does that me he should never have kept a hot ? no one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes.

a doctor is not the only way to acquire av, and is not by prescripiton. you can fill out paper work to get a permit to import av, i believe ray hunter has a section on his site that list the prices for av he sells. you need a doctor to sign off on saying he ill administer av if you are bit i believe is how it works.... maybe someone will come along and correct us both if we are wrong maybe you could post this on venomdoc for brian fry to answer.
