Zeke they are prety neat frogs. They can be somewhat agressive though an will bite, though its not as painful as that of a pyxie frog ^^. These guys get prety big the largest i have seen was an albino that was easily a bit bigger then 2 softballs placed side by side he was taking rats as feeders.

Despite their getting to a big size they don't require alot of room because they don't move around alot. they prefer to chill generaly in one spot an wait for their dinner to walk by.

as far as a good display animal, well i'd have to say they make decent ones all depending on how elaborate you do a setup but they tend to crush any plants you put in the tank or tub. In Goliath's case he is kept in a plastic tub on ground peatmoss, with a water bowl, an one fake plant near the bowl.

his enclosure stays nice humid an verry wet, i don't have any problems with mold.

You also have to becareful with whatever body of water you keep in with them because these guys can not swim! They will drown verry easily. when it comes to food you have to becareful tht its not to big but at the same time not to small.

Goliath takes an adult mouse live every cupple weeks. It varries for him as to how offten, he will burrow down in his substrate when he is not intrested in food, when he is ready he comes up. if that makes much sence ^_^.

you do not have to feed them live when it coems to mice etc. you can usualy use tongs an move the feeder by the pacman an they will generaly go for it. Goliath however has no intrst in any of that lol he's picky i supose ^_^

oh okay. so they must not be very active at all for a frog that size to be able to live in a 5 gallon tank. do you have to feed them rodents? my mom wont let me get anything that cannot live off insects.

when they are babies yes they eat insects an even as they get larger they will eat a few, but they evently get to big for just bugs. They are carniverious an readily take rodents, other amphibians, lizards, an even birds. Perhaps this is a pet thats best left for when your out of your parents home unless you can manage to talk your mom into allowing you one of these guys.
Theyr ealy arent verry active animals thus why the small space is fine for them. Even an adult can live out iots life in a ten gal tank though i would rcomend soemthing alil bigger just so its not so cramped.

i can find you loads of info on these guys an maybe you can sit down an talk to your parents you never know with teh right info an right attitude some parents can be persuaded towarded such new pets ^_^

oh okay. i thought maybe some large roaches would be good enough for them to live on.

nah my parents wont let me get rodents (whether as a feeder or a pet). their rules are no rodents and no birds.
