Papua New Guinea Taipan (Oxyuranus scutellatus canni) Male. Just about at the four foot mark now

Black Mamba (Dendroaspis polylepis) CH 4/2007. The youngest out of two other specimens.

I wouldn't want any parts of that Taipan. Do you actually work with that snake or use shift boxes?

Joe you think that guy on reptic zone really went from a rat snake to a Taipan. I have never worked with a Taipan so all I can judge them on is what I have been told but can't imagin someone went from a rat snake to a taipan for there first venomous. Just curious to hear your thoughts I honestly thought it was a troll trying to get everyone fired up.

Justin Shift or Trap boxes can be used to move your snake without actually handling them.

The male isn't too bad, once he's out of his cage. He can be hooked to and from the holding bucket back into the cage with little issues. Now the adult female on the other hand, is a complete maniac and the use of a trap box is a must. Twisted Evil

As far as Repticzone goes, it's just the nature of that forum. It's the cesspool of all reptile forums, especially with all the nonsense that can be seen on a daily basis. I'm sure it was just some kid who was bored and thought he could be funny. Thankfully, Oxyuranus isn't often seen on the open market.

I was wondering after watching Als video. The one he showed on there was so fast moving and the strike was off the chart fast. I assume since it was hard to see on camera you could get bitten before you even knew it. Just insanely fast.

I know reptic zone is a joke for the most part not even sure why I stop in. Does amaze me what people post there. I'm normally a laid back guy but I get upset veiwing some of the topics posted there.

Well Happy New Year and keep those great pics coming.

Here is an example of big cat shift cage on wheels with breaks, it is like a tunnel, has opening on both sides, one is sliding door the other is a guillotine door, opens by pushing it up. You let the cat in from one cage, close the door, move the cage on wheels to a different cage and release the cat there, without having to leash walk the cat or ever letting it out of the main or transport (aka shift cage).

yes it is a very young lion eating in transport cage, we get them used to transport cages when young so they don't freak out, not any different than people getting their dogs/cats used to crates and car rides if u need to take them to the vet.
