my amieva Jasper is doing terrible. the last month he has been slowly getting worse now he is really bad. he never opens his eyes and hardly ever holds his head up. he just lays on the platform under his light. when i misted him a few hours ago he ran and hid. i just found him by his water bowl and he was bleeding from his eye i dont know what to do. i thought of taking him to let the vet put him to sleep but i dont have the money for that. and i couldnt do anything like that myself. i dont want him to suffer tho. can anyone help me please!

| Sorry to hear that. I used to use 'cold' to slow reps down and put them to sleep when needed but have since seen this is also painful?? I don't really know but thoughts are with ya.

i think i may freeze him today. i read before that when they are sick like this that putting them in a freezer is a humane way of putting them to sleep.
he just pooped and i think some of his intestine came out with his poop and there was alot of blood. and he still has something hanging out of his vent that leaves a line of blood when he walks across the paper towels.
i dont know what to do i dont want him to suffer but freezing him just seems mean.

I don't know if you should take him out. Is there a herp person you could call in your area? I'm just not any type of an expert. Do you have a herp vet that would at least answer a phone question?
Just some thoughts along with my prayers,
Raven

yeah i do have a herp vet in the area. i didnt even think to call and ask him what to do. but now it is probably too late to take him out and do anything. its been over an hour.
another person i talked to before i put him in said that this is how he did his lizards that were extremely sick.
thanks,
