Biggest rodent I've kept is an agouti. I don't think I could manage anything bigger than that. Especially considering capybara's moderately aquatic nature, I imagine they'd need a fairly extensive captive setup and eat a heck of a lot. _________________ There is a fine line between a hobby and a mental illness.

Our Vet keeps them in a pasture with her camels, deer, Zebra and other exotics...sure they have a pond. We have a half acre, and we live walking distance to a large ponds and a lake. I was wondering how much control and interaction you can have. _________________ Pam aka LadyViper

| I thought I'd share the little knowledge I have of them---my recollection is that they remind me of giant guinea pigs--the ones I encountered were at a private zoo and I used to pet them in their winter quarters--summer quarters was a corral and I believe they had a swimming source for them---they were friendly and inquisitive--the Patagonian cavy makes a great pet and makes the sound of a guinea pig and are smaller than the capybara.
